Deciding where to relocate to in Europe can be a tricky choice. It really depends on what you are looking for and what you want your new home to offer.
Cyprus is an excellent choice for those looking for a mixture of sunshine and a dash of the good life. One of the best things about moving to Cyprus is that you will have plenty of options for living places.
Here are some of the best places to live in Cyprus to help you decide what is the right fit for you.
1. Paphos
One of the most well-known cities in Cyprus, Paphos is steeped in history. It is thought to be the birthplace of Aphrodite. Paphos is largely popular with those relocating from the UK, and there are likely to be a number of reasons for this.
The first is the location. Located in the south-west of the Island, Paphos has an amazing combination of lush green countryside, beautiful beaches, and scenic villages for you to explore. All this while still having a great transport connection to the wider island and plenty of facilities, too.
2. Limassol
For younger families, finding a balance between what the adults want to do and what the kids will enjoy can be difficult. However, Limassol might just have the answer to keeping everyone as happy as possible.
One of the larger cities in Cyprus, Limassol offers a perfect mixture of water parks and beaches (for the smaller ones) and plenty of bars, restaurants, and nightlife spots (for the young at heart). In addition, Limassol is a more tourist-led area, which means that you may find it easier to source work and to find things to do on a regular basis.
3. Peyia and Tala
In addition to the city itself, Paphos has some smaller districts scattered around, which give you a great opportunity to find yourself not too far away from the action but far enough away that you feel that you can escape.
Both Peyia and Tala are popular places for those who are moving from the UK, which means that if you want to have the best chance of making friends (and feel that you are still home at times), then either of these may be an excellent choice for you.
It is worth saying that Peyia is more overbuilt than Tala. However, if you want to move out into the outskirts of the area, you will find it much quieter. However, you may have to drive for a little bit longer when you want to make your way to Paphos. This is not an issue unless you are trying to commute each day for work.
4. Akamus Peninsula
If you are a big fan of nature and want to get out and explore the natural world around you, then the Akamus Peninsula and Polis will be the right choice for you. They are located on the island's west coast, where there are over 200 square kilometres of land that is completely unspoilt and largely untouched.
Within the Akamus National Park is a wide variety of wildlife, all of which call it their home. You will also find a coastal area, which is considered home to some of the best beaches on the island, including the Blue Lagoon and Lara Bay (where you may even be lucky enough to find yourself a turtle).
5. Polis
Around 25km from Paphos towards the northwest coast, you will find Polis. This town is on the edge of the Akamas National Park and is usually a go-to place for tourists. However, many people choose to call it their home.
Whilst Polis itself doesn’t have a sandy beach that you can visit, there is one located either a 45-minute walk (and it is a beautiful walk) or 10 minutes on public transport. This is in Latchi and features not only a beautiful beach but also some of the very best fish and seafood restaurants that you will find on the island.
6. Coral Bay
Not everyone is moving abroad is doing so because they want to retire and are seeking a quiet life. For some, the move to another country comes at a point in their lives when they want to explore and really get out there and enjoy every moment that they can.
For this usually younger crowd, Coral Bay might be the place to pick. Coral Bay is just 12km from Paphos and is a popular holiday destination for young families and the under-30 crowd. However, this doesn't mean that the area is spoilt for those who choose to live there.
One of the main reasons that people may choose Coral Bay is because of the beaches. Of course, Coral Bay itself is a must-see, but you can also visit Coralia Beach, which is a smaller beach, but one that still has plenty to offer too.
For many people in this area, the highlight has to be the nightlife. It is known to be busy and lively, and many people will say that you will never be lost for things to do and ways to spend your evenings.
